Excellent - But beware of propietary USB cable !

Great Deals Of Marquis Tablet MP977 9 Inch Laptop

Marquis Tablet MP977 9 Inch Laptop

I love this tablet ! It does everything I need it to do and it's extremely affordable. The screen looks great, it's fast and the touch sensitivity is almost as good as the more expensive tablets. The only thing everyone should know is that the 30 pin connector is proprietary, so you can't use the chargers and/or adapters that the other 30 pin tablets use (like the older Apple products). Customer service with this company is great and I'll be ordering a back up 30 pin USB transfer/charger cable direct from this manufacturer.

Adobe Flash is available for this product directly from the manufacturers web page and while I haven't tested it, it did download and install without a problem.

This is great product, I doubt anyone will be disappointed, unless you're expecting it to be a direct replacement for one of the more expensive tablets.

  1. This is my first tablet, and I have to say I'm very impressed.

I'll start off with somewhat of a caveat: if you have a top-line smartphone, I'm somewhat hard-pressed to see why you'd need a tablet. Everything this (or any other) tablet will do, my HTC One-X will do just as well. That said, if you do want one, this is a great one to get.

It operates on the Android system, so you won't be able to run apps proprietary to the iOS (Apple apps). That's simply a result of the war between Apple and Android, and carries through the smartphone offerings, too. But anything that runs on Android runs on this tablet, and being an Android smartphone user, I think that suits my needs plenty well, thank you.

The system boots up quickly and easily, and is very easy and intuitive to use. It has a camera that faces the user, so you can use Skype on this product. The one thing that may be a drawback for some users is that there's no camera facing away from the user, so it would be hard to use as a photography platform. And the camera that's in the phone doesn't strike me as being very high-res. But again, that's also a limitation with smartphone cameras. Their lenses don't really allow very good photographic results, regardless of how many megapixels they tout. Photography has more to do with lenses than chips.

Log this unit into a wifi source and you're on the internet, plain and simple. Easy to do. It's large and sturdy, with ample screen (its biggest advantage over a smartphone).

The price for a unit with these capabilities is really really reasonable, another plus. I simply don't see how you can go wrong with this tablet. So, if you're someone who wants to use a tablet instead of one of the more expensive smartphones, I strongly recommend you get this one.

  2. Received this yesterday, very nice casing with glossy panel. This system has great response time compared to some of the other ones I played with in the stores. Looks very similar to the iPad! The GooglePlay store works perfectly with great colors and battery life...I cannot put this down!

  3. This was the birthday gift to my 14 year old boy. My son started his interest in developing some Andriod app for fun. Therefore, I particularly searched for an Andriod tablet with Google PlayStore. When I called the company and was told the LG screen that Marquis uses was the same panel that iPad use, plus, the powerful 1.2GHZ TI chip set, I was immediately hooked.
The package came quick and safe. The Quick Start Guide included is helpful. The screen is indeed crisp and bright. Although they only indicated 4GB internal memory, there actually was a 2GB SD card included for free. That's a nice surprise, too! It is a bit heavier than iPad, Overall, for the price I paid, I am very satisfied.

  4. Although I bought this from fry's and not amazon, I still felt inclined to leave a review. Got it for 179$ this thing is pretty great. No flash support but you can search on Google and find a solution as I did. This is more due to the fact that flash does not support newer versions of android software. Watching Sunday ticket, HBO go, videos, YouTube and many other streams is terrific. All the social media works great. Of the "cheap" tablets you can't go wrong with this one in my opinion. Only drawback so far is no swype for the keyboard. Other than that I love it.

  5. Exceeded expectations!

I have had this for about 2-3 months now and have downloaded several apps on this device, continues to run smoothly. Haven't had any issues with downloading the apps. I do recommend getting the SanDisk 16 GB Flash Memory Card (tons and tons of space)! I have played a few games to test it out, works great and graphics are just as good as an iPad without the cost associated with it. I like the battery life of this device, lasts longer than my iPad battery does. Comfortable to use, great design! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great deal.

Dislikes: The only feature I would like to see is that the flash memory card is put in a different opening then where you charge it.

  6. This is the first tablet PC I have bought, and I have to say that I am quite impressed. Beautiful screen resolution, very responsive touch screen, and easy to navigate interface. The size is not bad either. Watching videos and reading books on this has been pretty enjoyable. I will definitely take this on the plane with me when traveling. Battery lasts a surprisingly long time too. Overall, it was a great buy that actually compelled me to write a review.

  8. Unlike many reviewers i will rate the product rather than the issue i had with it.

I have had about 10 different tablets over the past 2 years. SO i know what to look for right away for pro's and cons of a tab.

The very first test i run on a tablet is to check the screen brightness when watching a movie. When someone is wearing say a brown suit i want to see it as a brown suit and not a black one. To me, far to many fail in this area. They spec the PPI but not the brightness which is a shame.

I don't like comparing one tablet to another, however since when i was looking for my next tablet i narrowed it down to two of them as they are close in price and performance. The Samsung Galixy Tab 2 and this MP977.

The Galaxy Tab 2 was a better feel in the hands than the MP977. I did not note really much of a speed difference between, if i had to pick it would be the Galaxy was a bit faster but nothing to make the decision with. What separated the two for me was the brightness of the screens. The MP977 has a much brighter screen. When watching movies on the Tab 2 it was just to dark. When someone would like go into a dark lit room the whole room was black. Yet the same movie on the MP977 i could clearly see everything in the room. So the Tab 2 went back. Having these two in hand at the same time i would choose the MP977 over the Tab 2. However.... If the Tab 2 had i brighter screen i would have chosen that. The Tab 2 was more comfortable holding and a few other odds and ends.

It functions very well, and the screen is very good. For the anal people out there that whine about everything like 30pin connector and no USB ports and so on. Well, you knew that before you bought it ding dong so why complain about it or give a less star rating.

Honestly i would recommend this MP977 to most average people for their first tablet. For the higher end users or pro users i don't think i would. Only because, of a few things.
#1) When i plugged it into the computer it did not recognize it at all. Never had a tablet that the computer did not at least see it.
#2) mine would not take a full charge. The most it would get was 48% even when left on charge overnight. So unable to determine battery life. I had to return mine.
#3) Wi-Fi reception is on the weak side of town. From where i sit to where my router is most tablets can get about 20% signal. This one was just on the edge of even getting a signal.

As i said mine would only charge up to %48 and no higher even when left on charge overnight. So clearly there was something wrong with it. No one can produce 100% working products all the time, some have to be bad now and then. But i am not going to dink them for that.

I gave it a 5 star rating because even though it did have some problems with it, i feel that possibly the computer issue and the battery might have been cable related. The WiFi is no a big one either as i am far away from router. So bang for buck it is a good tablet if your looking for something larger than 7" and dont quite want the bulky 10" tabs.

Though i have bought many tablets, i have decided that what i want most is a ~9" tablet. they are better to view than the 7" and not as bulky as the ~10" Did not buy the new iPad mini because of one reason the screen resolution on that tab is of the worst out there. Otherwise if they put a good or even average screen in it i would have. The larger iPads are just to insane with cost. Though i have never dropped mine or had it slid off my lap to the floor on the couch. I would not cringe with a $200 tablet. If i had a new iPad costing that much i would get pissed. So i finally settled on the Sony Xperia, which will arrive in a couple days. I have high hopes....
